In accordance with the macro-policy of Industrial Development and Renovation Organization "IDRO" (affiliated to the ministry of industries) and with the aim of developing new industries for manufacturing engines for motorcycles, NMI was founded in 1985. In 1986, receiving the know-how of motorcycle production from Italian Piaggio company for "Bravo" and "Vespa" motorcycles, NMI proceeded the mass production of these products as the main target.

Concurrent to the evolutions in Iranian automobile market in 1991, this company entered the automotive industry, initially with machining gearbox parts and then manufacturing the complete gearbox set of Paykan car for Iran Khodro Co. (the greatest car manufacturer in Iran).

Along the production of Peugeot 405 by Iran Khodro Co., NMI started manufacturing of cylinder head and cylinder block and launched the gearbox assembly line for this car then obtained related quality certificates from Peugeot Co.

As a tear-one supplier of Iran Khodro Co., NMI was appointed as Peugeot RD gearbox manufacturer in 2001. Holding the intellectual property of this product, the remarkable improvements have been performed for optimizing, which represents considerable quality rise in the automobile as the result.

In the same year Peugeot 206 gearbox production project was planned. The quality certificate of related assembly line was received in 2003 from Peugeot Co. and the production started in 2004.

Like the other World Class Manufacturers in automotive parts production, along with the production projects, NMI has been attempting to accomplish the  quality management systems.

Receiving the ISO 9001 and ISO 9002 certificates in the previous years, the German RW-TUV organization awarded this company the ISO/TS 16949/ver. 2002 in Mar. 2004.
